A sheet feeding apparatus and an image forming apparatus are provided to easily set a small amount of sheets in a loading part without causing a problem like twists of the sheets. A sheet feeding apparatus includes a sheet loading part(11), a sheet feeding roller(21), a supporting member, and a spring. The sheet loading part loads sheets. The sheet feeding roller feeds the sheet loaded on the sheet loading part. The supporting member is supported to be rotated by a base member and supports the sheet feeding roller so that the sheet feeding roller is rotated. The spring extends between the base member and the supporting member and is operated so that the sheet feeding roller presses the sheet due to the rotation of the supporting member if the amount of the loaded sheets is large than a predetermined value, otherwise the spring is operated so that the pressure is decreased.
