<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball 1 with an improved dimple pattern and excellent flying performance. <P>SOLUTION: The golf ball has a plurality of dimples 2 on the surface. The surface area occupancy Y of the dimples is at least 75%. The ratio R1 of the diameter d<SB>max</SB>of the largest dimple to the diameter D of the golf ball 1 is 11-18.0%. The total number N of the dimples is not more than 320. The ratio R2 of the number of dimples 2 with the diameter d which is 11.0-18.0% of the diameter D to the total number N is at least 20%. The average surface area occupancy y, the value obtained by dividing the surface area occupancy Y by the total number N, is at least 0.22%.
