<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "circumference object identification system" which identifies classes of other vehicles around own-vehicle using a radar device. <P>SOLUTION: While the own-vehicle 100 runs a road section of a straight line of one lane each way and when a motorcycle 300 runs rearward of the own-vehicle 100 (a1), an appearance frequency distribution curve (c1) about the x directions (right and left direction of the own-vehicle 100) of relative position of an object which is the motorcycle 300 is obtained from a distribution (b1) of a relative position in a past predetermined period to the own-vehicle 100 measured by a rearward radar device 2 to the object. Then the sizeΔx of extent in the x direction corresponding to the area more than the threshold Th in the appearance frequency distribution curve is calculated as a width of the object. The type of the object such as a pedestrian, a bicycle, a motorcycle, an ordinary automobile or a large-sized automobile are presumed from the calculated width, relative velocity and radar reflection intensity of the object. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
