PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has more excellent life characteristics and luminance characteristics. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element is provided and formed with an organic electroluminescent layer 3 between an anode electrode 1 and a cathode electrode 2. The anode electrode 1 is surface-treated with acid or an oxidant on a surface where there exists an organic substance with a contact angle of 5°or more and 60°or less against water.
