PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode for a direct methanol fuel cell in which performance deterioration due to poisoning by carbon monoxide generated in the system hardly occurs. SOLUTION: The anode for the direct methanol fuel cell has catalyst particles made of platinum or platinum alloy bound on a conductive porous substrate as an electrode catalyst layer by a proton conductive polymer. The weight ratio of the catalyst particles/proton conductive polymer in the electrode catalyst layer is made 3/1-20/1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
