The arrangement has a contactless optical measuring device (1) for image recording of the idle state of the contact wire (5) and the maximum contact wire lift. An evaluation unit records the images and an output unit indicates and represents the results. The evaluation unit is formed such that the recorded images are compared, and the maximum contact wire lift is determined from the image data after calibration of the arrangement. An independent claim is also included for a method for a contact wire lifting measuring.
