Method for authentication of an electronic label (1) by a server (4), has the following steps: label-side calculation of digital signal using a first function (f), shared with a reader (3), using a first secret key (KS); transmission of the signal to the reader; calculation by the reader of second digital signature using a second function (g) shared with the server; transmission of the second signature to the server; and verification by the server of agreement between the second signature and a validation value. The validation value is calculated from the second function and a second secret key (K1) known to the server and a single element chosen by the label and the reader. The invention also relates to a corresponding electronic label, reader and microcontroller.
