An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to implement highly reliable display by reducing an image sticking state and simply and certainly improving a display characteristic. In an LCD which comprises the first substrate(41) having the first electrode and the second substrate(42) having the second electrode, alignment films(46a,46b) and a liquid crystal layer(38) are inserted between the first substrate and the second substrate. At the liquid crystal layer(38), a polymer structure having an alignment pattern is formed to align liquid crystal molecules to an appointed direction. The average roughness of the polymer structure surface is below 10 nm. A slit to perform the regulation of the alignment pattern is formed at the first electrode.
