FIELD: mining, particularly development of flat and inclined gas-bearing coal beds by joint massif degassing and coal gasification. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves drilling wells from ground surface; preparing and igniting underground gas-generator in underlaying coal seam with generated gas removal; degassing overlaying massif with methane conveyance to ground surface and mixing with generated gas. Massif is degassed from discharge zone along with underlaying coal seam gasification. Wells for massif degassing are drilled from ground surface to ground of uppermost coal seam in coal series along with gas-collecting void creation over gas generator. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency of underground coal series gasification. ^ 4 cl, 3 dwg
