Alumina binder obtained from aluminum sulfate, the process of preparing t he binder and the process of using the binder to prepare catalyst compositio ns are disclosed. Catalytic cracking catalyst compositions, in particularly, fluid catalytic cracking catalyst composition comprising zeolites, optional ly clay and matrix materials bound by an alumina binder obtained from alumin um sulfate are disclosed.
