PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove dust before dust can not be easily removed due to dew condensation. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus is provided with: an imaging element 33 for photoelectrically converting an object image; an optical filter 51 arranged between the imaging element 33 and a photographing lens 80; a piezoelectric element 52 for oscillating the optical filter 51; a temperature sensor 46 and a temperature measuring circuit 113 which are used as temperature measurement means for measuring the object side surface temperature of the optical filter 51; and a temperature/humidity sensor 45 and an absolute humidity measuring circuit 112 which are used as water vapor content measurement means for measuring absolute humidity in a mirror box 5. Since the absolute humidity in each prescribed time is measured and compared with the object side surface temperature of the optical filter 51, and when the surface of the optical filter 51 reaches 90% of saturated water vapor content, a dust removing apparatus is driven, dust can be efficiently removed before dust can not be easily removed due to dew condensation.
