PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make available GPS-equipped portable information communication apparatuses, such as portable phones and PHSs, which are palm-sized or smaller, to be used for car navigation, and to enable drivers to operate the apparatuses and read map images by themselves. SOLUTION: A portable information communication apparatus includes: radio communication means for receiving a GPS signal, storage means in which a program and a data file are stored, and data processing means for generating, by processing the GPS signal and map information data in accordance with the program, a digital display signal of a map image about the self-position, and a display means for displaying the map image about the self-position on the basis of the digital display signal. The portable information communication apparatus further includes interface means A1 for connecting a peripheral apparatus with an external display means and for transmitting an external display signal to the peripheral apparatus in accordance with the digital display signal.
