PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve anticorrosion property and gloss and ensure weather resistance by improving dispersibility into a rust-preventing pigment, in a coating resin composed of water dispersion of a vinyl-modified epoxy ester resin. SOLUTION: The method for producing the water dispersion of the vinyl-modified epoxy ester resin comprises obtaining a dimer acid-modified epoxyester resin by including≥10 wt.% dimer acid as a dibasic acid based on an epoxy resin in a step for carrying out addition/condensation of a fatty acid and the dibasic acid to the epoxy resin and including a polyoxyalkylene (POA) chain in an amount of 0.5-7 wt.% based on solid content of the resin into an epoxy skeleton or a graft side chain of the resin. Dispersibility of a pigment is improved by introducing POA chain into the resin and anticorrosion property and gloss of the coating using the resin are improved. Weather resistance is favorably ensured by using the dimer in a prescribed amount or above as the dibasic acid. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
