PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium conveying device preventing increase of jam and preventing failure of parts of a high voltage power source by a constitution where a high voltage frequency output from the high voltage power source is held less than a constant value. SOLUTION: The recording medium conveying device adopts a system in which a surface of an endless conveying belt 1 is charged and paper 10, i.e., the sheet-like recording medium is attracted to the conveying belt 1 and conveyed by utilizing electrostatic attraction force by charging and the charged charging area is formed so as to become a band-like shape to an attraction/conveying direction, and having the high voltage power source 18 as a charging means for charging the surface of the conveying belt 1. The conveying device has a control part 28 for performing control such that the high voltage frequency output from the high voltage power source 18 is held less than a constant value. By accomplishing a constitution that the high voltage frequency output from the high voltage power source 18 is held less than a constant value, increase of jam is prevented and failure of the parts of the high voltage power source is prevented.
