PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional arc welding apparatus in that the drive of a cooling fan motor is operated or stopped by a signal from a current detector or output from an abnormal temperature detector, or a cooling fan motor is selected by output current, so that a reduction in power consumption in drive control of the cooling fan motor is still unsatisfactory and a further reduction in power consumption is difficult. SOLUTION: The drive time of a fan motor is determined by a set value from a welding output setting part or an output value or welding output time from a current detector to minimize the drive time of the fan motor, so that as compared with constant rotation of the fan motor, the power consumption can be reduced in such a state that the cooling efficiency of the fan motor is good.
