PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide member of an umbrella, which is capable of positioning stretchers when being non-used and smoothly bringing the stretchers into action when opening the umbrella. SOLUTION: In the guide member, a lower runner is provided on a metal rod of the umbrella, a plurality of positioning blocks and a guide cover are installed at the upper part of the lower runner, the guide cover is fitted with a ring member of the lower runner, and the plurality of positioning blocks are provided at the ring-shaped upper end of the guide cover at a prescribed interval and fitted with the upper end of a fixed block provided on the lower runner.
