PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system which can perform secure authentication using serial numbers of cards without preparing an expensive IC card reader in each host device neither forcing users to memorize meaningless numbers.

SOLUTION: The authentication device includes an authentication information input means for inputting prescribed personal authentication information for authenticating a registered user and an authentication information control means for performing user authentication using the personal authentication information input by the authentication information input means, and the authentication device further includes an authentication information output means which outputs the personal authentication information input by the authentication information input means, to the outside.
