PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die for optical fiber spinning which stably forms a resin film, even if a spinning speed is made high, and is high in productivity and low in cost, and also provide a resin-applying method using the die. SOLUTION: The shape of a die hole, through which a bare optical fiber passes, comprises a straight part having the same diameter and a die taper part which expands at a first tilt angle with a longer distance from the straight part so that an interfacial shearing velocity between a bare optical fiber and a coated resin is in a range of -1.3×105to 3.8×104[sec-1].
