PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing device that conveys photosensitive materials, the device being designed so as to improve the function of a conveying system for the photosensitive materials by precisely controlling detection sensors that detect the presence or absence of the photosensitive materials. SOLUTION: The processing device includes: conveying means TM and TF, which convey photosensitive materials PS and PF along set conveyance paths; and the detection sensors DS and DF which detect the presence or absence of the photosensitive materials PS and PF, are disposed in a plurality of areas along the conveyance paths for the photosensitive materials PS and PF, and are composed of pairs of light emitting elements 15 and 33 driven to emit light in response to a pulse signal and light receiving elements 16 and 34. In the processing device, the timings of starting the emission of light from the light emitting elements 15 and 33 and the timings of stopping the emission of light therefrom, which are detected by the detection sensors DS and DF, are set, based on a reference signal for setting the same timing.
