A video recording system and a video recording method thereof are provided to store regularly a video with normal resolution in a first hard disk and store selectively a video with high resolution in a second hard disk by equipping two hard disks with the video recording system, thereby recording an important video in the separately equipped second hard disk while increasing the hard disk capacity of the system. An MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) unit(112) compresses a video in normal resolution or high resolution. A first HDD(Hard Disk Drive)(106) stores the video with normal resolution compressed in the MPEG unit in the first hard disk. A second HDD(108) stores the video with high resolution compressed in the MPEG unit in the second hard disk. A CPU(Central Processing Unit)(102) controls to divide videos into normal or high resolution videos, and store the video with normal resolution compressed through the MPEG unit in the first hard disk and store the video with high resolution in the second hard disk when a recording mode is set in a corresponding hard disk.
