<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device with simple and economical design that are used for machining a workpiece, reduce a combination time and prevent the wear of a rotary chain and each cutting tool holder. <P>SOLUTION: A workpiece is machined in a prescribed time sequence by using the cutting tools 1-9. In the course of the time sequence, a previous cutting tool 3 mounted to a tool receptacle 12 in each case is replaced with a following cutting tool 4 from a tool magazine 32. The previous cutting tool 3 is deposited at a prescribed storage place 56 in the tool magazine 32. According to one aspect of this invention, the previous cutting tools, when being put back into the tool magazine 32, are distributed to the storage places in a spatial sequence which is different from that of at the start of the machining operation and corresponds at least largely to the time sequence. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
