PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve objectivity and reliability of a grading result (a score), by using it as only a scoring standard whether a song is sung until the last with correct lyrics. SOLUTION: A karaoke device 1 is provided with: a hard disk driver (HDD) 12 for storing an accompaniment data and lyrics data of a karaoke song data; a microphone 3 for inputting voice of a singer; and a control unit (CPU 11 etc.) for controlling karaoke playing and displaying of a selected song by the singer. The control unit comprises: a video display processor (VDP) 17 for displaying a background image on a display device 5 without displaying a lyrics telop; a letter conversion section 27 for extracting a letter data of lyrics form voice of the singer; a lyrics coincidence determination section for determining coincidence of the lyrics by collating the letter data of the extracted lyrics to the letter of lyrics data stored in the HDD 12 during karaoke playing; and a karaoke play termination section 29 for mandatorily terminating karaoke play during playing, when they are not coincident.
