PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mass-produce an environmental pollutant-absorbing carrier with stably immobilized DNA by using radiation higher in intensity than ultraviolet radiation. SOLUTION: A gel composition as the environmental pollutant-absorbing carrier with DNA immobilized on a crosslinked polymeric substrate is provided. This gel composition is obtained by the following process: A polymer crosslinkable by radiation irradiation is admixed, either simultaneously with or separately from DNA, into water or a buffer solution, and dissolved therein to prepare a mixed polymer-dissolved solution containing both of the polymer and the DNA.
