PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer synthesis apparatus that enables synthesis of high-quality polymer. SOLUTION: A lactide fed from a lactide-feeding apparatus 1 is heated and melted in a lactide-melting apparatus 4 and a catalyst is added thereto in a catalyst-feeding apparatus 7. The melted lactide is fed to a horizontal reaction tank 16 through a lactide-feeding apparatus 13 and flows by a head difference the polymerization reaction proceeding. The discharged reaction liquid is subjected to supplementary addition of the melted lactide and mixing therewith in a supplementarily added raw material-mixing tank 17, then fed to the upper part of a vertical reaction tank 18 and flows down inside thereof by gravity with the polymerization reaction proceeding. The reaction liquid is transported to a residual lactide removal apparatus 19 and, after removal of the unreacted lactide, is discharged. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
