PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a silicon-containing isocyanate compound that can efficiently and economically produce a silicon-containing carbamate compound with simpler facilities and at a lower cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing a silicon-containing isocyanate compound comprises a step for production of the carbamate compound where a silicon-containing amine compound represented by general formula (1): Z-NH<SB>2</SB>and a carbonic ester compound represented by general formula (3) are reacted in the presence of a metal catalyst containing at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Zr, Mn, Fe, Sn and Bi to obtain a reaction mixture containing the silicon-containing carbamate compound represented by general formula (4): Z-NHCOOR<SP>8</SP>, and a step for thermal decomposition where the above reaction mixture is thermally decomposed to obtain the silicon-containing isocyanate compound represented by general formula (5): Z-NCO.
