PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic precipitator and a precipitation method reduced with the amount generation of ozone. SOLUTION: This electrostatic precipitator comprises a charging part 104 charging soot and dust contained in air by corona discharge, a dust collection part 108 collecting the charged soot and dust, and a high frequency high voltage generating device 200 capable of intermittently charging the charging part 104 and dust collection part 108. The amount of generation ozone is reduced while keeping removal performance of the soot and dust, by controlling intermittent charging from the high frequency high voltage generating device 200.
