The invention relates to the rear structure of a motor vehicle, consisting of at least a floor pan (6) and an exhaust device (4) extending transversely under the floor pan (6). The invention is characterised in that the structure includes a diffuser (2) which extends essentially below the exhaust device (4) and a heat screen (3) which is disposed between the diffuser (2) and the exhaust device (4), said screen (3) resting at least partially on the diffuser (2) such that at least one direct contact is created between the diffuser (2) and the heat screen (3).
