<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of reducing the occurrence of alignment abnormality and to provide a method for manufacturing the device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device in one embodiment has a TFT array substrate 201 on which pixels having a transmissive portion 21b and a reflective portion 21a are arrayed in a matrix; the device also has a flattening film 10 having an opening 15 provided on the TFT array substrate 201, a reflective pixel electrode 12 provided on the flattening film 10, a transmissive pixel electrode 11 provided in the opening of the flattening film 10, and an alignment layer that is provided over the reflective pixel electrode 12 and the transmissive pixel electrode 11 and that is rubbed in a rubbing direction inclined from the arrayed direction of the pixels 50, with the opening 15 having a side perpendicular to the rubbing direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
