PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective film for a polarizing film to keep display image quality of a liquid crystal display device or the like to high grade over a long period of time.

SOLUTION: The protective film for the polarizing film is obtained by forming a covering layer having a polymer containing a repeating unit derived from a chlorine-containing vinyl monomer on one surface of a transparent base material film comprising cellulose acylate and providing a layer having at least a hard coat property on the opposite side surface of the transparent base material film and has ≤300 g/m2day moisture permeability in 95% relative humidity at 60°C.
