ANIMAL MODEL OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND APPLICATION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new mouse model of AD (Alzheimer's disease) capable of duplicating a series of pathology of Aβaccumulation, neurofibril change and neurodegeneration in the AD brain.

SOLUTION: The nonhuman mammal of the animal model of the AD containing a kimera APP gene capable of producing human Aβ, or a part of the organism is characterized by about 7 times or more (about 140 times or more in a homozygote) of the ratio of Aβ42/Aβ40 at 8 week-old compared to a corresponding wild animal. In another embodiment, the animal or a part of the organism is further characterized by the expression amount of APP not having significant difference compared to a corresponding wild animal. The method of screening a medicine for preventing/treating the Alzheimer's disease involves using the animal or the part of the organism.
