PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a communication terminal side perform calling operation of a telephone by using telephone book data to be stored and managed by the server side of a thin client system. SOLUTION: When the telephone book button of a portable telephone (terminal) is operated, terminal unique ID, a connection request command and the start instruction command of a telephone book application are transmitted to a server device. In the server device, the telephone book data managed and made to be associated with the terminal ID are read, and the telephone book list picture is generated, and transferred to the terminal so as to be displayed. The range selection operation of a desired telephone number is executed by a cursor on the telephone book list screen displayed at the terminal, and the cursor designation range is displayed and decided by processing in the server device, based on the key operation signal; when a calling/incoming button is operated, character recognition, corresponding to the cursor designation range on the telephone book list picture, is operated in the server device; and calling data are generated according to the digit codes of the character-recognized telephone number, and transferred to the terminal, and calling is executed.
