<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a styrene-based resin extruded foam excellent in environmental adaptability and thermal insulation, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The styrene-based resin extruded foam meets the following requirements(a), (b) and (c): (a) The average size of cells in its first surface layer portion in the thickness direction is 0.01-0.15 mm. (b) The average size of cells in its central portion in the thickness direction is 2.5-5.0 times the above-mentioned average size.
