PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feature extracting method for specifying and displaying pixels which are the generation source of a feature when the feature is given. SOLUTION: A guide about feature evaluation or development of character recognition algorithm by specifying and displaying the pixels which are the generation source of the feature by performing reverse search in a feature vector field by using the feature as a key when the feature is given while the feature vector field is previously produced in which each input character pattern of pixels is correlated with a feature of the pixels. Thereby the development of the character recognition algorithm is accelerated because clarification of a cause about false recognition becomes easy. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
