PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for a discharge abnormality testing and cleaning and reduce and save the amount of ink wastes to be used for the discharge abnormality testing and cleaning. SOLUTION: The liquid droplet discharging apparatus comprises a plurality of nozzles for discharging liquid droplets, a sensor for detecting a defective nozzle which generates a discharge failure in discharging a liquid droplet and a controller. The controller determines whether a liquid droplet is discharged or is not discharged out of the respective nozzles from the image data and causes the sensor to detect the defective nozzle, among the respective nozzles to be determined to discharge liquid droplets from the image data.
