PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cosmetic highly spreadable on the hair when applied and presenting good compatibility with the hair, and giving smoothness to the hair when rinsed. SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic contains (a) preferably 0.05-5 mass% of a thickening polymer (e.g. a cellulosic water-soluble polymer such as hydroxyethyl cellulose or methyl cellulose), (b) preferably 0.05-5 mass% of a polyethylene glycol with an average molecular weight of 400,000-6,000,000 and (c) preferably 0.01-10 mass% of a specific hydroxyetheramine compound.
