PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide niobium monoxide realizing large capacitance even when a small-sized capacitor is used. SOLUTION: The niobium monoxide has a porous structure composed of particles whose half value width of a diffraction peak derived from (111) plane or (200) plane measured by X-ray diffraction is 0.21-1.0°, and has a large specific surface area and large porosity, and thus is suitably used especially for a capacitor.
