The method involves storing cooking parameters for food in a memory unit (3), and selecting the food to be cooked by a data inputting device (4) by an operator of an electric household appliance (1) e.g. household cooking oven. The desired time is preset in the device by the operator when the food is to be cooked completely. The cooking process is started by the operator. An information is output by an electronic controller (2) over an information outputting device (5) according to a stored preparing sequence of the food to indicate the operator to determine the adherence to the sequence. An independent claim is also included for an electric household appliance comprising a memory unit.
