<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly manage utilization of literary works made into data for viewers in an apparatus for receiving such literary works. <P>SOLUTION: A receiving apparatus 4b is configured to receive contents encrypted and transmitted by a distribution device and includes: a decoder 52b for decoding the encrypted contents; a nonvolatile memory 65C holding a view limit amount of contents; a tuner 51 for selecting pay contents and acquiring the selected contents through digital broadcasting; and a control CPU 58 for judging which is greater, a total view amount of acquired contents or the view limit amount.
