An optical film, a backlight unit and an LCD using the same are provided to improve the efficiency of concentrating light provided from a light source on a viewing plane of a liquid crystal panel by disposing a plurality of prisms and a plurality of linear lenses at one and other surfaces of a base film, respectively. A liquid crystal panel displays an image in response to a driving signal and a data signal applied from the outside. A backlight unit is disposed at a rear side of the liquid crystal panel to light the liquid crystal panel. The backlight unit includes at least one light source and an optical film(260). The light source provides light for lighting the liquid crystal panel. The optical film concentrates light provided from the light source on a viewing plane of the liquid crystal panel. The optical film includes a base film(262) transmitting the light, a plurality of prisms(264), and a plurality of linear lenses(266). The prisms are disposed adjacent to one surface of the base film in one direction. The linear lenses are disposed adjacent to other surface of the base film in one direction. |
