<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide catalyst for an electrode using none other than metal oxide particles capable of being used as a substitute of platinum-carrying carbon particles or metal platinum particles with a possibility of greatly reducing a volume of use of platinum. <P>SOLUTION: The transition metal oxide particulates having a perovskite structure expressed in a general formula of ABO<SB>3</SB>as a main phase is structured with a lattice constant satisfying a conditional expression of: 1.402<2b/(a+c)<1.422. Here, in the conditional expression, a and c denote a length of each minor axis of perovskite type crystal lattices, and b denotes a length of a major axis. Further, in the general formula, A denotes one or more elements selected from lanthanum, strontium, cerium, calcium, yttrium, erbium, praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, silicon, magnesium, barium, niobium, lead, bismuth, and antimony, and B denotes one or more elements selected from iron, cobalt, manganese, copper, titanium, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
