POWDERY TITANIUM OXIDE-ZINC OXIDE AGGREGATE, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

Disclosed is a powdery material which can exert an excellent protecting ability both in an UV-A region and an UV-B region. Specifically, disclosed is a powdery titanium oxide-zinc oxide aggregate which comprises an aggregate formed with a porous titanium oxide particle comprising an assembly of primary microparticles of titanium oxide and a zinc oxide particle. Also disclosed is a process for producing the aggregate, which comprises the following steps (a) to (c): (a) hydrolyzing an aqueous solution containing a titanium salt and an aliphatic alcohol under heating; (b) adding a water-soluble zinc salt to a suspension of a precipitate obtained in the hydrolyzing step and neutralizing the resulting solution with an alkali agent; and (c) firing a precipitate obtained in the neutralizing step.
