The apparatus includes a controller (13) which generates a control signal (15a-15e) for lighting up various lights sequences (18a-18j), each sequence including a first lamp and a second lamp, and which generates a switching signal (14a,14b). There is a control unit for the lamp (16a-16j), which applies a force on a light sequence conforming at once to the control signal and the switching signal. The switching signal has the effect such that the lamp control unit applies a voltage on the first lamp and on the second lamp of each of the sequence of lamps for a prescribed time period.
