A device for inputting characters in an optical disk recording device is provided to input title character data in an optical disk in an infrared communication with a conventional mobile communication terminal having an infrared communication part. A device for inputting characters(200) in an optical disk recording device comprises a key pad(202), an infrared communication unit(210), and a control unit(204). The key pad is provided to input character data. The infrared communication unit converts the input character data into infrared communication data, and transfers it to the optical disk recording device. The control unit controls the conversion and transfer of character data when a character data input is requested.
