A chair assembly is able to uphold an umbrella in a plurality of locations. The chair has a primary umbrella-support and also one or more secondary umbrella- supports. Each is adapted to connect the umbrella to the chair. The primary umbrella- support-means holds the umbrella from a location that shields the chair from the sun' rays coming from a first direction, while the secondary supports uphold the umbrella from different locations to shield the chair from the sun's rays coming from different directions. The support post of the umbrella is distanced behind the backrest so that a user, seated on the seat and reclining on the backrest, will not feel the support post against his or her back through the backrest.
