Provided is an LDPC encoding method for realizing such an encoder and a decoder of an error correction code efficiently in a high performance and at a high speed as are suited for the communication field of mobile communications. A tanner graph for expressing the codes with variable nodes and check nodes is used to classify the individual nodes into a plurality of categories. At a probability propagation calculation in the repeated decoding, a predetermined weighting for the individual categories is done on a logarithmic likelihood ratio (LLR) to be propagated.
