A system and a method for generating a personalized video are provided to offer a video clip to a user, insert contents received from the user into the video clip, which the user has selected, to generate the personalized video and transmit the generated personalized video to the other party. A system for generating a personalized video(201) includes a video clip storing unit(210), a contents insertion information storing unit(220), a video clip selecting unit(230), a contents input unit(240) and a personalized video generating unit(250). The video clip storing unit stores plural video clips. The contents insertion information storing unit stores contents insertion information corresponding to each of the video clips. The video clip selecting unit provides information about the video clips to a user and selects and receives at least one of the information. The contents input unit receives contents to be inserted to the selected video clip from the user. The personalized video generating unit extracts the contents insertion information corresponding to the selected video clip from the contents insertion information storing unit and inserts the received contents to the selected video clip on the basis of the extracted contents insertion information to generate a personalized video.
