A remote flow meter and a method thereof are provided to remove inconvenience that an inspector directly checks flow meters. A remote flow meter, in which a vane-wheel flow meter is installed between an inlet(201) and an outlet(202), includes a magnetic field detecting unit, a pulse width control unit, a counter unit, a latch, a microcomputer, a memory, and a data transmitting unit. The magnetic field detecting unit includes a hall sensor(209) detecting rotation of a rotating body by an electric pulse signal. The pulse width control unit controls a pulse signal detected at the magnetic field detecting unit. The counter unit counts a pulse signal controlled in width by the pulse width control unit. The latch unit latches a counting value output from the counter unit for a predetermined time. The microcomputer controls storage and transmission of a converted instant flow value. The memory stores the instant flow value outputted at the microcomputer. The data transmitting unit transmits the instant flow value outputted from the microcomputer to a remote detecting center. |
