BACKLIGHT UNIT OF A LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

A backlight unit of a liquid crystal display is provided to increase an amount of light reflected and distributed from a light incident part to thus increase the amount of light transferred to a light opposite part. Light is made incident to a light guide panel(131) from light sources(132). An optical sheet provides light provided from the light guide panel(131) to a liquid crystal display panel. One surface of the light guide panel(131) includes a region 'A' having a plurality of first V-shaped grooves(136a) and a region 'B' having a plurality of second V-shaped grooves(136b). The region 'A' is positioned at the side of a light incident part compared with the region 'B', and the width and depth of the first V-shaped grooves are smaller than those of the second V-shaped grooves. The light sources(132) are formed as LEDs(light Emitting Diodes). The size of the region 'A' is about 5 percent to 15 percent of the overall length of the light guide panel(131).
