An automated teller machine has an expandible enclosure which is hinged (hinges 23, 31) to form a secure enclosure 35 in which banknotes can be loaded into the ATM. Loading of the ATM is via a cash transfer unit having a closable access opening and a channel-shaped chute (Figs 7 to 10), for the secure manual transfer of a cash cassette through a wall. The ATM may be at the site of and be provided with a public telephone. |
