A water purifier is provided to enable anybody to replace, maintain and manage filters simply and easily by grasping contamination degrees of various filters in the water purifier more accurately, and a method for purifying water using the same is provided. As a water purifier for purifying raw water and discharging purified water, the water purifier comprises: a plurality of tanks(T1-T6) in each of which a filter is embedded; a body(200) including a raw water pipe(202) to which a plurality of the tanks are connected, and into which the raw water is supplied, a purified water pipe(242) from which the purified water is discharged, and a plurality of flow paths(222,224,226,228,230,232,234) which connects the raw water pipe and the purified water pipe by means of a plurality of the tanks to discharge the purified water to the purified water pipe after sequentially passing raw water of the raw water pipe through a plurality of the tanks; a first measuring unit(310) for measuring the supply amount of the raw water supplied to the raw water pipe; and a control unit(340) for calculating contamination degrees of the respective filters based on measurement results of the first measuring unit.
